About the WaterMate Pro pump
The pro pump is a diaphragm model, with a high flow rate and high pressure capability.
A filter is supplied, which is mounted on the inlet side of the pump.
Note the direction of flow marked on the pump casing. It points away from the water tank.
Mount the pump securely inside the greenhouse or polytunnel, where it is sheltered from direct water spray. It’s water resistant, but not waterproof.
The pump is self priming and will draw water from up to 10 metres away, with up to 4 metres head. Pumps are supplied with a 3m cable. Pump extension cables are available.
Route the inlet pipe to the water valves
- Fit one end of the braided garden hose to the pump inlet strainer.
- Secure the hose to the strainer with the larger supplied jubilee clips.
- Place the strainer into your water tank.
- Run the inlet hose to your pump, and cut the pipe to the right length.
- Place the larger jubilee clips over the hose before connecting the hose to the pump inlet filter.
- Connect the hose to the pump inlet filter.
- Secure the hose with the supplied larger jubilee clips on the inlet side.
- Use the rest of the hose between the outlet of the pump and the water valves.
- Use the snap-on connector for the water valve end of the hose.
The inlet system is now ready to connect to the water valves.
Many greenhouses are well sealed, and may require drilling through the sheet above the door, or somewhere under the sides. Don’t kink the hose, and keep it as straight as possible to help water flow. Use 90 degree elbows if needed.
Maximum capacity
Maximum capacity is a guideline only, and can be affected by the length of inlet hose, the height that the pump has to bring water up from a tank, the state of filters, and the battery level (for solar units).
Up to 20 sprayers per zone are supported using the WaterMate Pro pump.
Up to 60 drippers per zone are supported using the WaterMate Pro pump.
High pressure cut-off
There's a high pressure cut-off switch mounted on the pump, which will stop the pump if there is a blockage on the outlet side. This can be adjusted with a small allen key, if you want to change the pressure at which the pump stops.
The high pressure cut-off will usually stop the pump if you are using a soak hose or porous hose; this is intended behaviour. When the pressure drops again, the pump will restart.
