The system is designed to keep light out of the nutrient solution, since algae is more likely to develop with light. If you are not using any net cup locations, or have a cup tray removed in order to use small pots or your own pots, try to cover up any open areas to prevent light reaching the nutrients and wet areas of the system.
Cleaning - trays
Every month, or when a tray starts to get green or dirty, remove it for cleaning:
- Using the wifi control panel, turn the pump to OFF so that it doesn’t start unexpectedly while the system is partially complete.
- Remove everything from the tray. If you still have good growth and strong plants, put them aside carefully to replace after cleaning.
- Unplug the nutrient feed hose from the pump, and slide it all the way out of the top of the hose cover pipe.
- Lift the tray slightly to allow you to remove the cover pipe.
- Also remove the drain pipe.
- Remove the tray, clean it thoroughly with water, rinse, dry and replace.
Cleaning - Filter
The pump filter should be removed and cleaned every couple of months, or more often if it appears clogged.
