You can add fans to your H-series:
- Moving air promotes strong cells and good health.
- Extraction of moist air reduced the chances of mould.
Fans come supplied with the window kit, to keep humidity levels down.
If the windows are not purchased, fans can be fitted with an optional bracket, pointing at the plants, to help move the leaves and stems to encourage strong growth.
Fans are controlled by a sensor in the growing chamber. Read about the sensor here.
Parts required (per level)
- Fan with short cable
- Fan with long cable
- Sensor
Fitting process
Without mounting kit (as supplied with windows)
- From the rear, push the fan with the short cable into the right hand hole in the rear panel (nearest the light control board)
- Push the fan with the longer cable into the other hole.
- Connect the fans to the light control board. It doesn't matter which fan goes into which socket.
- Plug the sensor into the light control board, from inside the growing space. Ensure the logo on the sensor is the right way up.
With mounting kit (for plant movement)
- Push the fans into the mounting kits, as shown below.
- Screw the assemblies to the inside of the upper rear panel on the level you are adding fans to.
- Run the wires out through the large holes, and connect them to the light control unit. It doesn't matter which fan goes into which socket.
- Plug the sensor into the light control unit, from inside the growing space. It doesn't matter which way up it goes.
Turn the H-series off, wait a few seconds, then turn it on again. The hardware test will detect that there is a fan control sensor in place.
How fans work
There are three modes for fans:
- Automatic
- On : runs until you turn them off or reboot your system.
- Off : off until you turn them on or reboot your system.
Automatic mode
Fans will run when the humidity is over 80%, or the temperature is over 25C.
Timer control
Additionally, you can prevent automatic operation as follows, if you want to keep things quiet at night.
- Always off between time A and time B (eg during the night)
If you are just using the fans for air movement, rather than humidity or temperature control:
- Always on between time C and time D (eg during the day)
Troubleshooting
The light control board will flash red/blue if there is no sensor plugged in, or the sensor has failed. With a connected and working sensor, the light will just flash blue on/off. If your sensor is not working, check it's inserted the right way up.
